Henry IX, written by legendary comedy writers Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, and produced by Retort and Serious Comedy, won the Rose D’Or in the Sitcom category at the 56th annual awards in Berlin on 19th September. The three part series was broadcast on UKTV in April 2017, and starred Charles Edwards as Henry, with Annette Crosbie, Don Warrington, Colin Salmon, Gina Bellman, Sally Phillips and Kara Tointon.
The series was directed by Vadim Jean and produced by Pete Thornton, and Executive Produced by Jon Rolph for Retort and Tarquin Gotch for Serious Comedy.
The Rose d’Or Awards are the gold standard of achievement in entertainment programming. Over 400 programmes from more than 130 broadcasters and production companies in 33 different countries were submitted for this year’s awards, with only ten winners on the night.
